If there is a paper trail that shows a connection within 12-15 generations and you have a 40/43 match, more individuals need to be tested to establish the patterns of the ancestral line. 4 22/26 probably not related 39/43 unlikely that an ancetral line is shared If you have more than 3 mismatches in a 26 marker test you are probably not related. If the paper trail suggests you are related, more members from yours and other lines need to be tested to establish the connections. With 4 mismatches in a 43 marker test, testing more individuals can help to pinpoint the generations where the mutations occurred.
